Find unclaimed money, free
States hold forgotten bank balances, uncashed checks, deposits and refunds until owners claim them. Searching and claiming through your state’s official program is free. Search every state you’ve lived or worked in.
Educational only, not financial advice
This tool shows general math, not a recommendation for you. It isn’t financial, tax or legal advice, and real returns, fees and tax rules will differ. Talk to a qualified professional before making decisions. What you enter stays in your browser: nothing is saved or sent to us.
Search many states at once
MissingMoney.com is the official multi-state search of NAUPA, the association of state unclaimed property administrators. To be thorough, also check the state sites below.
Never pay a finder fee
Companies that offer to find your money for a cut are charging for something you can do yourself for free. Official sites won’t ask for payment to search. Be wary of emails, texts or letters asking for a fee or your bank login.
Official state searches
Each link goes to the state’s own unclaimed property program. We don’t search for you or see what you enter there.

Other places money can wait
Some money isn’t held by states, such as pensions from former employers, missing federal tax refunds and matured savings bonds. There’s no single place to look, so USA.gov lists the separate official searches for each.
